Watchable Wildlife Manitoba

Central Plains Region

The Central Plains Region spreads west from Winnipeg, up to the southern edge of Lake Manitoba and down to Highway 2. An easy road trip from Winnipeg and you can be watching wildlife in the great wetland at Delta Marsh in just over an hour. An ideal time to visit is during spring or fall migration but a warm summer afternoon at St. Ambroise Beach after birding in the marsh caps the day. On the way home stop in to Fort la Reine Museum in Portage la Prairie and the Former Grey Nuns' Convent at St. François Xavier.
