Watchable Wildlife Manitoba

Pembina Valley Region

From the Red River west to the Manitoba Escarpment, from Highway 2 south to the United States border you are in the heart of south central Manitoba—rich in farmland and pioneering history. Slicing diagonally through it is the Pembina River and Valley. On such a flat plain it is amazing to see this deep valley where migrating raptors soar on rising thermal winds.

Begin your wildlife watching at Pembina Valley Provincial Park. Find time to stop into the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre in Morden to see what swam the sea while dinosaurs walked the land. You can time your visit to attend one of the many festivals in the region—Morden’s Corn and Apple Festival, the Morris Stampede or the Carman County Fair.
