Gimli

Designation Date: August 27, 1991

The Gimli Public School was built in 1915. Its construction cost of $20,000 was a massive financial undertaking, but the community was determined to provide the best educational facility for its children. This spacious six-classroom brick facility featured the most modern conveniences and equipment available at the time. The Gimli Public School operated for 59 years before closing its doors in 1974. The building is still a vibrant part of the community, recently converted for office space and a museum.
