About the Jobs

STEP Services refers students and youth to career-related jobs in: Youth

  • the provincial government
  • related organizations (i.e. Manitoba Hydro)
  • employers participating in government employment programs (i.e. urban renewal, neighbourhood development and community enhancement, youth recreation)

Jobs available include:

There are 1400 student jobs available each year. Some examples of the jobs include:

lab assistantResearch assistants - conduct research on specific projects and prepare final reports.

Lab assistants - conduct basic laboratory tests.

Day camp counsellor - support staff in organizing and running day camps for youth.

Groundskeeper - do grass cutting, raking, watering and seeding.

Engineering aides - help technical engineers with various tasks such as improvements on hydro-electric developments, and assist in field inspections.

Labourers - do general clean-up of grounds and/or building maintenance.

Information technologists - include programming, application, web page design, etc.

Clerical Assistants - include filing, processing forms, reception, data entry, word processing, etc.

Travel counsellors - provide one-on-one vacation counselling and planning to travelers throughout the province.

Park Attendants - work on the camping reservation system, provide tourist information, collect camping fees, park pass sales and balance funds and permits daily.
