phone number or ano
ther number where we can reach you.
What is employment equity? Why is it important?
Employment equity is a process designated to address the historical
under-representation of certain groups in the work force.
It is important because our work force should be representative
of the diversity of the population it serves.
What employment opportunities are offered for students
who are disabled?
Career related positions are available through CareerOptions
for Students with Disabilities. For more information
or to find out if you qualify, contact Sandra Lytwyn at
(204) 945-1637, toll-free at 1-800-282-8069 ext. 1637,
or e-mail at sandra.lytwyn@gov.mb.ca.
Why aren't women included in the employment equity categories
listed?
Gender is identified elsewhere on the form.
Will I be left out if I indicate/don't indicate an employment
equity category?
If you don't indicate a disability, you won't be considered
for CareerOptions positions.
My courses (faculty, college) are not on your list. What
should I do?
Select one that closely matches your courses or choose "other".
I have a job (full-time/part-time/casual). Should I indicate
that on the form?
No. If you are a student, you don't need to indicate your
employment information. However, if you fall into the
"youth" category, you do need to include information about
your job.
Do I have to quit my job to qualify for a government job?
No. As long as you can realistically work both jobs, it is
not a problem.
I am in a joint program (ie. U of W / U of M, or U of
M / RRC). Which one shall I indicate?
The one you are presently attending.
I take more courses/have more skills than space is provided
for. What do I do?
By registering on-line you will be able to indicate up to
45 skills. If you find space still is limited, enter the skills/courses
that are relevant to the type of job you are seeking.
I don't know what my plans are for next year. Which option
should I check? (This is especially relevant for students
graduating in the spring).
Check "yes" only if you're fairly certain that you are returning.

for Quebec Exchange and New Brunswick Exchange?
Students should be able to work in an environment where all
communication is conducted in French. Part of the selection
interview will be conducted in French.
