GETTING THE JOB DONE IN SPORT AND CULTURE

Budget 2019 keeps our promises by fixing the finances, repairing services and rebuilding our economy.


We're investing in results for Manitobans and continuing on the road to recovery by supporting sport, culture and heritage including:

  • investing $2 million in 2019-20 as part of our total $5-million commitment for the Manitoba Heritage Trust Program, which a partnership with The Winnipeg Foundation, supporting community foundations established by museums and archives across the province;
  • removing the `sunset clause' and increasing the budget for the Manitoba Film and Video Production Tax Credit to $31.5 million from $16 million to accommodate the continued and accelerated growth in the industry;
  • supporting grant funding of $54.6 million in 2019-20 including:
    • formalizing funding for Culture Days Manitoba, which celebrates arts and culture right across the province;
  • moving forward in the next phase of the International Curling Centre of Excellence (ICCE) including determining the potential location, business partners and sponsorship opportunities; and
  • extending the Book Publishing Tax Credit and the Cultural Industries Printing Tax Credit.
