The decorative Shaver House, with its fanciful facade and generous proportions, is a fine example of a prairie farmhouse in a grand eclectic style. Its builder, Arthur Shaver, originally from Ontario, began establishing a successful farm in the Hullett district in 1889 and also served on the Hullett School Board at its inception in 1892. When he turned his attention to erecting this substantial brick home, he chose to build a cut above the traditional in both scale and detail, drawing on Italianate and Gothic Revival features to create a colourful and singular exterior. The Shaver family occupied this impressive home for several decades.
