A.E. Gardiner Building

Designation Date: April 24, 1997
Designation Authority: The Town of Carberry
Present Owner: Seton Centre Board

This unusual little building was constructed around 1915 by Frank Thompson of Austin. Mr. Thompson employed a building technology that was then in vogue throughout the province, in which concrete blocks were formed on site and then set in place. The various forms available to builders meant that a variety of surface effects could be obtained. In this case, lovely floral designs appear across the building’s surfaces. The building was purchased by A.E. Gardiner around 1915 and was used by him as a harness repair shop for 48 years.
