Manitoba Municipal Heritage Site No. 180

Fjelsted House
210 Main Street,
Arborg

Fjelsted House

Designation Date: June 9, 1999
Designation Authority: Town of Arborg
Present Owner: privately owned

The house is a big, charming presence in Arborg, and an important connection to the community's Icelandic roots. In its form, a rambling, informal affair, and in its details, like the wave-shaped eaves boards, the building is a quintessential Icelandic home. Built in 1912 for the Fjelsted family, pioneer merchants, the house is being renovated for new life as a teahouse.
