Manitoba Municipal Heritage Site No. 240

St. Mary’s Anglican Church

St. Mary’s Anglican Church

Designation Date: February 11, 2003
Designation Authority: R.M. of Franklin
Present Owner: The Synod of the Diocese of Rupert’s Land

St. Mary’s Anglican Church in the Diocese of Rupert’s Land is a typical example of the simple forms, materials and details that characterized the pioneer religious experience in the early twentieth century. Built with the aid of missionary monies from the Church of England, the Gothic-inspired church, with its completely intact interior, is an impressive testament to the faith of its builders and the spiritual power of simple forms and plain construction.
