Mahon House
SW 26-7-12W, Cypress River Area

Mahon House

Designation Date: February 12, 2003
Designation Authority: R.M. of Victoria
Present Owner: privately owned

The Mahon House, completed in 1916, is a solid brick building on a farm site near Holland. The house, roomy and well appointed, is a fine example of the kind of substantial farmhouses built in the era of economic rural expansion in the early 1900s. Constructed by area pioneers John and Wilhelmina Mahon, who came from Ontario in the 1880s, and still occupied by their descendants, the home features a formal entranceway, solid brick walls and a fine oak staircase, fine examples of the kind of appointments typical of the era.
