Canadian Home Video Ratings System

The Canadian Home Video Rating System (CHVRS) came into effect in May 1995, following collaboration by industry members, the Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association, and the English speaking provincial film classification boards. Averaging the ratings assigned by provincial boards produces the national CHVRS film rating for home product.
Manitoba and the CHVRS use the same 5-tier classification system and symbols (G, PG, 14A, 18A, R). In most cases, video and DVD home product that is distributed in Manitoba has the national CHVRS classification symbol embedded in the art work.
