Information for Healthcare Professionals

The Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Act (Bill 208) came into force as of September 1, 2016. The UNHS Act requires that all parents/legal guardians of Manitoba newborns be offered hearing screening for their newborn. Facilities with greater than 75 births a year have screeners hired to provide screening. Outpatient clinics will be offering the screening by appointment for babies not screened in hospital.

If you have any questions about the UNHS services, please contact your regional audiology centre or Manitoba Health at atsc@gov.mb.ca.
