Application for Pipeline Suspension or Discontinuation (pdf)
- A holder of a valid pipeline operating licence makes application to the Minister under section 152 (5) of The Oil and Gas Act for approval to suspend or discontinue a pipeline. The application shall include:
a. Physical description and licence number of pipeline, or pipeline segment, to be suspended or discontinued.
b. Reasons for suspension or discontinuation.
c. the following information must be provided:i. expected timeline for suspension or discontinuation;
ii. confirmation of pipeline isolation from all pressure sources; and
iii. preventative measures used to leave the pipeline in a safe condition.
2.The submission shall be signed by an officer of the company making application.

5. Once the approval has been granted 48 hr notice must be given to the Petroleum District Office. For a discontinuation an inspector must witness the cut and cap of each end.
