Application for Salt Water Disposal Permit (pdf)
  1. An application to the Director under section 109(1) of The Oil and Gas Act and section 70 of Drilling and Production Regulation for a salt water disposal permit must be made on an ‘Application to Approval of Well Operations’ form found at https://www.gov.mb.ca/iem/petroleum/forms/wellop.xlsm. A detailed program of operations is required as part of this form.

    a. The following information must be submitted to support the application: a written consent(s) to the application by the royalty owner(s) of the spacing unit of the well;
    b. a copy of a notice of the licensee’s plans provided to the surface owner;
    c. the names and addresses of all royalty and working interest owners within 0.5 km of the proposed disposal well ;
    d. a diagram of proposed facilities with detailed description of the following:

    i. injection;
    ii. treatment;
    iii. measurement facilities;
    iv. configuration and working pressure of piping and equipment; and
    v. the existing and proposed completion of the wellbore.

    e. the proposed corrosion control in the wellbore, flow line and surface facilities;
    f. geological and engineering report that includes:

    i. a stratigraphic cross section of the disposal formation in the vicinity of the proposed disposal well, including the top  and base of the formation and fluid interfaces;
    ii.a map showing the structure of the top of the disposal formation within 1 km of the proposed disposal well;
    iii. a list of rock and fluid properties, including the estimated fracture pressure of the formation and an analysis of the formation water prior to injection;
    iv. a production history graph of the proposed disposal well and offsetting wells;
    v. the source of saltwater, the estimated total daily volume to be injected, and the anticipated maximum wellhead injection  pressure and analysis of the water to be injected; and a discussion of the anticipated effect of disposal on the ultimate recovery from the pool.

    g. discussion of the anticipated effect of disposal on the correlative rights of the owners; and
    h. the $200 application fee, payable to Minister of Finance.

    2. The submission shall be signed by an officer of the company making application.
