The results of competitive bidding on May 13, 2009 for Crown oil and gas rights which was offered by the Department of Science, Technology, Energy and Mines, resulted in a total of $1,764,343.80 being added to provincial revenue.

Fifty-one lease parcels, covering 6544 hectares (16,170 acres) were sold for a bonus amount totaling $1,721,039.80. The average price per hectare for lease parcels sold was $263.00 ($106.43 per acre).

Plunkett Resources Ltd., paid the highest price per hectare for a parcel located in the Waskada area. The firm paid $2,515.00 per hectare ($1017.81 per acre) as a tender bonus. Strong interest was shown in the Waskada area properties which accounted for 66% of the sale's value.

This is the second of four sales scheduled for 2009. The next sale will be held on August 12, 2009. The deadline for posting requests is May 15, 2009.
