Community Planning

The Community Planning branch has staff located in 8 regional offices throughout the Province to provide professional and technical services to municipalities and planning districts outside Winnipeg and to northern communities.
 
The assistance that staff can provide includes:
 
  • Helping municipalities and planning districts apply for planning grants;
  • Coordinating the inter-departmental review of development plan by-laws and zoning by-laws and amendments;
  • Making recommendations on development applications;
  • Review and approval of subdivision applications for most of Manitoba;
  • Providing support to planning appeal boards;
  • Preparing special studies and background studies;
  • Approval of public reserve closures and road closure by-laws;
  • Participating on Technical Review Committees for large livestock operations; and
  • Gathering, storing, processing and delivering geographic and spatially referenced information, including maps showing existing land parcels (real property) in a municipality, municipal tax roll maps, land use maps and zoning information.
