Columbia District - Spokane House, Fort George
1822-1825
From 1822 to 1825, Kennedy served as chief factor in the Columbia District, first at Spokane House, then at Fort George. He spent less than three full years in the west, but they were an eventful time in the Hudson’s Bay Company’s history. In 1824, Governor Simpson arrived in the Columbia District and made extensive changes to its organization. Kennedy left the district in 1825, accompanying Governor Simpson back across the mountains, as far as Fort Carleton.
