R.M.S. Nascopie"

Dear Miss Perrin,

I was very pleased to receive your kind letter before sailing from Montreal. Due to the usual rush of the voyage it is only now that I have got around to replying to it. I am glad you liked the "Franklin" article & found the subject interesting enough to read it. It was intended more to clear up a number of misapprehensions which have persisted especially in earlier day writings on the subject.

The voyage in this year is going round with much the same precision as last year. Very little is to be seen and no storms or rough weather so far. We are now on our way to

the Northern area and in around two weeks I expect to get off at the site of the new Post we are building in the vicinity of Bellot Strait. From there I will later travel into the Western arctic remaining in the country for at least this year.

We missed both you & Miss Forrest on the trip to Churchill this year. Although we had a full passenger list there was something lacking all along. We had one young lady, a Miss Bealy Who teaches somewhere in Ontario, I did not see very much of her although there were some young men at the train to see her off. A British gun boat visited Churchill while we were there, also two grain ships, and a very lively time was had by all. We were sorry to lose Mr. Cuntlay at this point. He escaped the

second half of the voyage this trip. He had no weighty responsibilities on the voyage as far as young ladies were concerned and I am sure he missed badly those of last year.

Thanking you for your kind good wishes and with kindest regards to Miss Forrest and yourself.

I remain

Sincerely,
W. Gibson
