Alonsa Conservation District was established in 1978. It lies along the western shores of Lake Manitoba and encompasses an area of approximately 4,450 km².  The CD was established to manage issues pertaining to agricultural drainage in the municipalities of Alonsa and Lawerence, and operates and maintains approximately 840 km of agricultural drains and their associated crossing infrastructure. Programming within the district include drain maintenance, crossing repair and replacement, forage seed  assistance, wildlife habitat enhancement, tree planting,  preservation of spiritual, ceremonial and teaching sites, sealing abandoned wells, pasture management, and watershed management  extension.  The ACD has completed an integrated watershed management plan for the Westlake watershed.
