Food Safety

Food Safety Page

Food safety is a responsibility shared by everyone - including food producers, processors, transporters, retailers and food service providers. That responsibility extends right into the home kitchen.

In this section, you can learn about best practices at every stage of the supply chain. Visit the At the Farm page to learn how food producers can take control of potential hazards through biosecurity measures and detailed record-keeping practices. At the Food Processor explains how companies can plan and implement formal programs that improve food safety while increasing the appeal of their products. At Home outlines ways to ensure food remains safe on its way to the dinner plate.

The production and processing of food is carefully regulated by provincial and federal governments. Regulating Food lists laws and inspection programs. Traceability explains how industry and government are working together to build systems that can track any problems right back to the source for quick, efficient action.
