Competitiveness Initiatives involves: improving government service delivery to business; supporting economic development in the manufacturing sector; and advancing the productivity
and competitiveness of businesses in Manitoba.
The Competitiveness Initiatives put forth by the Manitoba government are focused on the bundling of multiple services to business so that they are easily accessible online, in-person and by phone.
Manitoba Business Portal – provides client-centered access to the province’s online business services and information.
BizPaL Manitoba – is delivered in partnership with the federal government, municipal governments and provincial departments. BizPaL is an online service that automatically generates a list of required permits and licenses from all levels of government for businesses looking to start or operate a business in Manitoba. BizPaL supports small business development, rural economic diversification and the overall competitiveness of Manitoba businesses.
Service Delivery Partnerships – provided in collaboration with other branches, departments, and levels of governments, and other service delivery partnerships, with the goal of leveraging provincial service delivery resources. These partnerships strengthen client referral and management systems, and help to improve the overall accessibility of the province’s business services.
In collaboration with industry and government stakeholders in Manitoba, Entrepreneurship, Training and Trade seeks to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to promote productivity and competitiveness in the manufacturing sector.
Manufacturing Sector Economic Development Plan (MSEDP) (pdf) – coordinates the province’s overall response to the Manitoba MSEDP, which outlines a comprehensive set of recommendations for industry and government to enhance the global competitiveness of Manitoba’s manufacturing firms.
Manitoba Manufacturing Council – provides support to the Manitoba Manufacturing Council, which has been established to provide leadership and oversee the implementation of the MSEDP.
Direct Response Team – leads and coordinates, in partnership with Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters – Manitoba Division, the manufacturing direct response team which was established to facilitate timely communication and action between industry and the provincial government.
