Communities Economic Development Fund

Company Description
The Communities Economic Development Fund (CEDF) is a Crown Corporation whose objective is to encourage economic development in Northern Manitoba. It may do so through the provision financial assistance in the form of loans and loan guarantees as well as technical assistance to economic enterprises. Its primary loan programs are:

CEDF - Business Loans: An asset based loan product to assist businesses to start or expand. The program will also finance succession. It can provide direct loans or loan guarantees. CEDF can participate in any industry category. The program has a nominal limit of $1 million.

CEDF – Fisheries Loans: An industry specific loan product providing loans for the purchase and repair of assets used in the commercial harvest, processing, and marketing of fish from Manitoba Commercial Fisheries. The loan program has a limit of $50,000 per individual.
CEDF is directed in Legislation to operate within Northern Manitoba (defined for illustration purposes as north of Riding Mountain Park). It can and does however also work with Aboriginal clients throughout Manitoba (with the exception of Winnipeg) when it in cooperation with Federal programs for economic development. As shown in the table below CEDF does have the capability to offer other financial instruments, on a deal by deal basis.
