An Omnibus Survey of residents of the Capital Region was designed and conducted by Probe Research via telephone interviews between June 3rd and June 12th, 2002, among a random and representative sampling of adults residing in the Capital Region.

Sustainable Livestock Development in Manitoba: Finding Common Ground is based on public meetings and extensive consultations conducted in 2000. The report's recommendations focus on four key areas: role of the provincial government, publicly available information, role of intensive livestock operations, and decision process for siting intensive livestock operations. Panel was appointed by the Manitoba government in June 2000 with a mandate to seek the views of Manitobans on the expansion of the livestock industry.

Drinking Water Advisory Committee Report: Manitoba's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joel Kettner released the Drinking Water Advisory Committee review of reporting and followup Committee's 29 recommendations include:establishing a single provincial drinking water coordinating centre in Manitoba; the Province subsidizing 70 per cent of the cost of drinking water bacterial tests of all drinking water systems and having access to the results of those tests; better regulation and monitoring of wells providing drinking water to the public (e.g. schools, community wells); improving the education of Manitobans about drinking water and improving the training and standards for processes such as bacterial testing and reporting of test results; providing adequate staff and resources to make the system work better. The committee was instructed in June, 2000 to review the reporting and follow up procedures for bacterial testing of drinking water in the province.

Consultation on Sustainable Development Implementation (COSDI): In the fall of 1997, the government initiated the Consultation on Sustainable Development (COSDI). A core group of 18 members was charged with developing recommendations on how best to implement the principles and guidelines of sustainable development into the land use planning and environmental decision-making of government. A broader advisory committee, made up of 60 interested organizations and people, provided advice and comments to the core group. The COSDI report was submitted in May 1999.
