Provincial Planning Regulation Portal

Welcome to the Provincial Planning Regulation Portal, your guide to the new Provincial Planning Regulation.

The Provincial Planning Regulation falls under The Planning Act. It reflects the provincial government’s interest in land and resource use and sustainable development, and provides policy direction for a comprehensive, integrated and coordinated approach to land use planning. It also serves as a guide to planning authorities in preparing, reviewing and amending development plans and regional strategies.

The new regulation replaces the former Provincial Land Use Policies regulation (184/94). It contains three distinct parts: provincial land use policies, development plan requirements and livestock operation requirements.

To support municipalities, planning districts and others involved with local planning in their understanding and application of the new regulation, the following information and resources are now available through this portal:

  • Provincial Planning Regulation
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Support materials:
    • Planning resource guides & fact sheets
    • Other publications & presentations
  • Geospatial data and other background information
  • How we got here: Regulation review, rewrite and consultation process

Links to additional information and valuable resources are found throughout the portal.

This portal is a new planning initiative, so we would like to hear from you: How can we improve this web site so it meets the needs of those involved with planning at the local level? What additional information and resources do you need to support local planning and the application of the new regulation? Please submit your questions and comments to: cpdppb@gov.mb.ca.

The portal will be updated as new information and resources are made available, so check back regularly.
