Acts and Regulations

  1. An information binder containing an office consolidation of The Oil and Gas Act and Regulations listed below administered by the Petroleum Branch, together with a section including copies of any informational notices issued by the Branch is available at a cost of $50.00. The Regulations contained in the binder are:

    1. The Oil and Gas Lease Agents Regulation (MR 107/94)

    2. The Crown Disposition Regulation (MR 108/94)

    3. The Crown Royalty and Incentives Regulation (MR 109/94)

    4. The Geophysical Regulation (MR 110/94)

    5. The Drilling and Production Regulation (MR111/94)

      The Acts and Regulations are also available on the internet.

    As part of the subscription service, holders of this office consolidation will automatically receive any updates to the binder that occur prior to December 31, 1997.

The following Acts and Regulation are available from the Branch but are not included in the information binder previously listed:

  1. The Oil and Gas Production Tax Act, Chapter 037
    - provides for a tax levied on oil and natural gas producing freehold mineral rights.

  2. The Oil and Gas Production Tax Regulation (MR 357/87 as amended by MR 154/89)
    - provides the details as to the calculation of the tax.

  3. The Surface Rights Act, Chapter S235
    - covers right of entry and compensation for surface rights relating to petroleum exploration and development operations. The Act is administered by The Surface Rights Board.

  4. The Gas Pipe Line Act, Chapter G50
    - covers natural gas transmission and distribution systems. The Act is administered by The Public Utilities Board.

    The Acts and Regulations are also available on the internet.

Orders relating to field and pool designations, maximum permissible production rate exemptions, special drilling spacing units, pressure maintenance, pooling and unitization are not listed.
