Asian Development Bank (ADB)
Headquartered in Manila, the ADB is an international development finance institution (IFI) which extended approximately US$ 6 billion worth of loan and grant assistance to its 47 developing member countries in 2006. The ADB provides many business opportunities for suppliers of goods and services, for contractors and for consultants in a wide variety of sectors including Agriculture and Natural Resources, Education, Energy, Finance, Health, Law, Economic Management and Public Policy, Transport and Communications and Water Supply, Sanitation and Waste Management.
Canadian companies have enjoyed and continue to enjoy success in winning ADB related contracts. This is particularly true in regard to consulting services opportunities, an area where Canadian companies rank consistently as one of the top suppliers for such services.
The Private Sector Liaison Officer (PSLO) Network to the International Financial Institutions (IFIs)
The Canadian PSLO network (contacts listed below) aims to help the (IFIs) get closer to companies in Canada, while at the same time fostering more interest by Canadian companies in developing countries. The PSLO’s will disseminate information about the various IFI’s and its business opportunities and facilitate contacts between companies from Canada and IFIs.
Objectives of the Mission
* To initiate dialogue between Canadian Firms and the Asian Development Bank officers responsible for projects in Asia and the Pacific.
* Create a high level of awareness on the part of the Canadian firms of the project requirements and constraints, and their level of competitiveness in accessing bank projects and bank-financed projects in Asia and the Pacific.
* Inform Asian Development Bank staff of the capabilities and interests of Canadian firms in the Asian and Pacific development market.
* Initiate and maintain working relations with representatives of the Asian Development Bank.
For the Country Visit Missions
* Meet representative of both Asian Development bank and World Bank on the ground where project decisions are being taken.
* Meet local partners.
* Meet Government officials.
Program
Asian Development Bank
The cost of the ADB program in Manila will be C$350. Registration includes welcome cocktails on Sunday; Lunch and Dinner on Monday and Tuesday. Participants will be eligible for the Government of Canada rate at the hotel in Manila. Pre-mission worshop will be held in each province.
INDONESIA: September 20-22, 2006
Infrastructure Mission with an emphasis on Transportation, Water & Sanitation and Power
Indonesia has a 5-year infrastructure development plan worth USD150 billion, including projects in all major sectors: road, water & sanitation, energy (power plant), oil & gas, and telecommunication. Acceleration of overall infrastructure development is one of the nine development priorities set by the Indonesian Government for 2007.

LAOS: September 27-29, 2006
The Government of Lao PDR has set a target of graduating from least-developed country status by 2020. To accelerate the poverty reduction process, the government’s 6 th Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP) (2006-2010) emphasizes agricultural commercialization, hydropower development, mining sector development, improved education and health care and regional integration with ASEAN and the GMS.

Infrastructure Mission with an emphasis on Transportation, Water and Power
