How do I know if I should be concerned about my child’s development?

If you have questions or concerns about your child, we can help.  The Children’s Therapy Network of Manitoba services are here to support children and families.

We have collected some helpful links to information about developmental milestones and common questions.  If you still have questions, please contact the Central Intake in your home region.  Please make sure your family doctor is also aware of your concerns.

What happens after a referral is made?

Central Intake staff will review the referral, make sure the information received is complete and send it to the most appropriate service provider.  The service provider will then contact you when they are ready to offer service.

You know your child best!  Parents and caregivers play a very important role in their child’s program.  At the first appointment, we will want to learn about your child and your family.   We will ask you to share the goals you have for your child, and work with you to develop a plan to work toward your goals.

Services provided may include parent/caregiver training, individual or group therapy.

Where are services provided?

Services are provided in the child’s home region.  Services may be provided in a variety of settings depending upon the needs of the child/family. The services may be provided in the classroom, childcare centre, home or clinic.

Will my child have to wait?

Our goal is to serve all children as quickly as possible. Wait times may vary depending on the child’s needs and the wait time of the service partner.  For more specific information regarding wait times in your region, please contact Central Intake.
