Industry Development Initiatives

Industry Development Initiatives program will advance the agriculture, agri-food and agri-product sector's capacity and competitiveness by providing funding to support incremental group learning activities, knowledge transfer and resource development. The program will provide financial assistance to eligible applicants for activities that enhance the sector.
The program will support the following funding streams:
- Training
- Resource Development
Applicants are encouraged to focus on one of the following areas:
- Economic and workforce development
- Technical and business skills development
Intake Information:
- The intake for this program is currently open; funding requests will be accepted from October 2, 2025, to 11:59PM on October 30, 2025.
- Applications must be received by October 30, 2025, to be considered for funding. Applications will not be accepted after this deadline.
Eligible Applicants
- Associations
- Boards
- Commissions
- Indigenous governments, communities, and organizations
- Industry organizations
- Non-Profit organizations
Eligible Expenses
- Communication expenses
- Facility and equipment rentals
- Speaker fees and travel expenses
- Subcontracted services
- Materials and supplies
- Registration fees
- Professional fees and travel expenses
- Overhead expenses (e.g. internal administration, use of own materials and supplies, use of own equipment, etc.), capped at 10% of total approved eligible expenses
Training
This activity focuses on sharing skills, research and information through group learning and knowledge transfer events, such as conferences and workshops. The goal of this activity is to improve the capacity and competitiveness of primary producers, processors, agribusinesses, industry organizations, service providers, etc. by ensuring they have the latest information available.
Resource Development
This activity helps industry organizations produce digital and print materials to provide accurate information and resource materials.
Project Timeline
- All projects shall start on April 1, 2026 or later.
- Project activities must be completed, and all reports must be submitted on or before December 31, 2027.
Cost Share Funding
Projects will be subject to the following cost shares:
- Activities are cost shared between government and the applicant; the cost share ratio is up to a maximum of 50:50 (government: applicant).
- Eligible applicants can apply for multiple projects but there is a funding limit of $25,000 per eligible applicant over the life of the framework.
