Welcome to Women’s Equality Week!
(January 14-18, 2019)

The Manitoba government is promoting gender equality and highlighting women’s achievements in the province by proclaiming the third week in January Women’s Equality Week.

On Thursday, January 17th, the Minister responsible for the Status of Women, Honourable Rochelle Squires, will host an invitation only event for Women in Business. This event will discuss ways in which the government can reduce barriers in the economy for enterprising women.

In addition to this event, the Government of Manitoba is proud to announce that the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology will be receiving a grant of $25,000.00 in order to “Empower Recruiters”: These part-time student recruiters (women and those who identify as women), will serve to engage other women across the province in meaningful conversations about the importance of working in skilled trades and the information and communications technology sector and the many rewarding career opportunities available. Women promoting MITT programs will also allow prospective students to learn about non-traditional options from other women (“see it to be it”).
