Partnering with Employers

Employment Manitoba addresses current and future labour market needs. We co-ordinate, administer and assist in a range of activities that:

• support the development of industry-specific training
• help ensure the availability of a skilled workforce
• assist workers who are about to lose their jobs
• support the development of industry-wide strategic training plans
• provide labour market information
• help communities to address their specific skills shortages

Get involved with you local industry group or community organization and develop a partnership with Employment Manitoba to address labour market needs.

Assisting Employers to Find and Train New Staff

Employment Manitoba offers wage subsidies to assist in the cost of on-the-job training for potential new employees. We must approve the wage subsidy before the new employee is hired. Subsidy levels may vary.

New employees may be eligible if they are legally entitled to work in Canada and fit into one of the following categories:

• unemployed (working less than an average 20 hours/week) and a current or previous Employment Insurance recipient
• unemployed and receiving income assistance benefits
• low income individual or family

Contact the Employment Manitoba Centre nearest you for assistance to identify eligible candidates.

Consider potential employees who approach you with a letter from Employment Manitoba including eligibility.
