Funeral Board of Manitoba

What we do...

  • license Manitoba funeral directors and embalmers, funeral homes, and cemeteries, etc.
  • review and approve annual license application forms
  • approve the school, courses and curriculum of students
  • review and approve applications for certificates of qualification
  • ensure all licensees comply with the Code of Ethics, The Funeral Directors and Embalmers Act and The Cemeteries Act
  • receive complaints from the public about the funeral service profession
  • investigate complaints and administrative inquiries
  • hold hearings about complaints and administrative inquiries, when necessary
  • carry out disciplinary action such as fines or license suspensions and cancellations, when necessary
  • conduct compliance audits
  • report on Board activities

Board members are appointed by the government for a three year term and thereafter until a successor is appointed.
