What we do...


  • licence funeral directors and embalmers to do business in Manitoba
  • review and approve yearly licence applications
  • approve the courses and curriculum of students
  • review and approve applications for students
  • review applications for certificates of qualification
  • receive complaints from the public about funeral directors
  • investigate complaints
  • hold hearings about complaints, when necessary
  • ensure all funeral directors comply with the Code of Ethics, the FDE Act, the PFSA
  • carry out disciplinary action such as fines or licence suspensions and cancellations, when neccessary
  • conduct compliance audits
  • report on Board activities


Board members are appointed by the government for a three year term.
