Vaccines are also called needles, shots or immunizations. Vaccines help the immune system learn how to recognize and fight the germs that cause diseases. Vaccines help protect kids and adults against serious diseases and are known to be very safe. Because of vaccines, not many Manitobans and Canadians get sick or die from vaccine-preventable diseases.
