Planning for and adapting to climate change is foundational in setting Manitoba up for a resilient future. Understanding how our local climate will change, how that will impact our businesses, communities and citizens, and preparing for those impacts provides long lasting benefits to all Manitobans.
Manitoba EMO envisions a safe province that is resilient to all hazards, emergencies and disasters. They work continuously with partners by coordinating and integrating activities to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from hazards and disasters.
The Conservation Trust supports activities that create, conserve, or enhance natural infrastructure for the benefit of Manitobans. The Conservation Trust is held by the Winnipeg Foundation and revenue from the Trust will be granted to eligible organizations by Manitoba Habitat Conservancy (MHC).

The Low Carbon Government Office was established in legislation through the Act, and is responsible for developing and implementing policies, strategies and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable operations by government. The Low Carbon Government Office tracks and records the greenhouse gas emissions of all departments and some agencies and other entities on an annual basis. Areas of interest for the LCGO include:
- Sustainable procurement
- Improved building design, construction and management
- Increased use of zero emission vehicles and reduced fuel consumption by the vehicle and equipment fleets
- Innovative use and management of information and communication technologies
- Improved waste reduction and management operations
