Salaries

A career with Manitoba Corrections as a Correctional Officer (CO) or Juvenile Counsellor (JC) offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and provides opportunities for advancement.

Part-time COs and JCs are paid hourly rates. The starting hourly rate for first year, part-time positions is $30.02. Additionally, COs and JCs can increase their base salaries through regular merit increments; subject to satisfactory performance and attendance.

Full-time COs and JCs are paid annual salaries starting at $62,651.

New officers start at the OC1/JC1 level but have the opportunity to progress to higher ranks of qualification and responsibility (Correctional Officer / Juvenile Counsellor - 4 levels). In addition, other more specialized areas are available to qualified candidates such as: Program Generalist, Trades Instructor or Chief Correctional Officer.

Note: Salaries within each classification (listed below) are on a graduated scale based on length of service, qualifications, performance and level of responsibility.
