Refer-a-nurse program
Nurses in our public health system that refer a nurse who accepts employment will be eligible to receive a $1,000 referral bonus.

Returning Provider Incentive
Nurses and eligible allied health providers who have returned to our health system by accepting a minimum .7 EFT position with a public employer for two years will be provided an incentive of up to $10,000 (pro-rated). The first payment will be made within six months of starting employment with the remainder payable after completion of 18 months of service.

Eligible retiree program
Nurses and allied health providers who are eligible to retire in the qualifying period (December 1, 2022, or up until December 31, 2023) but choose to remain in the workforce maintaining or accepting a full-time position (minimum .7 EFT) for a minimum of two years will be provided an incentive of up to $10,000.

Tuition rebate
We’re providing tuition rebates for nurses working full-time positions.

Modernizing MOU with the Philippines
We’re making progress with recruitment from the Philippines, which includes modernizing our MOU with the Philippines government and a recent recruitment mission.

Professional Testing
We’re addressing testing costs and remedial training for returning, retired and international nurses.

Modernizing registration pathways for nurses
We support the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba's (CRNM) changes to make proving proficiency more flexible and consistent with other regulatory bodies.

We collaborated with the CRNM to modernize and fast-track registration for internationally educated nurses (IENs) and former registered nurses including updates to demonstrate language proficiency, clinical competency and return to practice. These new registration pathways will enable nurses to enter Manitoba's workforce sooner.

Modernizing registration pathways for physicians
We support the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba's Fast-Track Registration pathway that reduces the time it takes out-of-province physicians to obtain a license and practice in Manitoba.

We approved eliminating the need for international medical graduates to pass a general qualifying examination before registering and practicing in Manitoba.
