Community Elections 2026

The next regular election to be held in the Northern Affairs Communities is Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
Regular elections are held every two years on the fourth Wednesday in October. Terms are staggered with half of council up one election year and the other half the other election year.

Election Legislation
Legislation that sets out election rules, processes and procedures is available on the  Manitoba Laws website:
  • The Northern Affairs Act: under Part 4 (Elections re: Community Councils), sets out the election requirements for electing members of council in the Northern Affairs Communities.
    • Only section 92 (Rights of Employees in Elections) of The Municipal Act applies to community elections as referenced under subsection 85(2) of The Northern Affairs Act.
  • Community Councils Election Regulation: sets out how community elections are to be conducted.
