Estimates suggest that at least 70% of mental health problems and illnesses begin in childhood and youth.

In May 2015, the Healthy Child Committee of Cabinet (HCCC) announced a multi-year, provincial Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Strategy, the first of its kind for Manitoba.
