Trails Conditions & Advisories

WINTER TRAIL DESIGNATIONS IN EFFECT.

Only use trails designated for your activity.  Observe signs at trailheads and staging areas.  Never walk on ski trails or snowmobile trails! 

Cross-country Ski Trails:
Grooming reports from park staff, as well as condition reports submitted by skiers are available on the Cross-country Ski Association of Manitoba’s Where to Ski website.

Snowmobile Trails:
Trail status and advisories are available on the Snoman Interactive Trail Map. 

  • All snowmobile trails in provincial parks are designated Snoman Trails.  A valid Snoman Snopass is required.

Hiking and Snowshoeing Trails:
While some trails are groomed for specific activities, several ungroomed trails remain accessible for winter hiking.  Visit our Winter Trails page to find out where to hike or snowshoe.  Remember, never walk on ski trails or snowmobile trails.


Other Trail Advisories and Closures:

Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park

  • Black Wolf Trail: South loop closed due to shoreline erosion. Main trail remains open.

Nopiming Provincial Park

  • Hiking trails and water routes are closed due to wildfire damage. Backcountry campsites are closed.  Manitoba Parks is assessing trails and water routes and developing restoration plans.

Spruce Woods Provincial Park

  • Isputinaw Self-guiding Trail is closed due to flood damaged boardwalk.  The boardwalk is being assessed for repairs.
  • Steels Ferry Overlook and the Spring Ridge Self-guiding Trail is closed for bridge construction and trail enhancement.

Turtle Mountain Provincial Park

  • Oskar Lake Water Route: Portages to Emma Lake in Turtle Mountain Provincial Park are closed due to low water and floating cattail mats restricting access.  View map.

Whiteshell Provincial Park

  • The Mantario Hiking Trail is closed due to wildfire damage and is expected to remain closed for an extended period. Manitoba Parks is assessing the trail and developing a restoration plan. 
  • The portage on Sailing Lake into Granite Lake and portage at the north end of Marion Lake is closed.
  • Falcon Creek Self-guiding Trail is closed for bridge replacement.  Closure is expected to remain in place until Spring 2026.
  • Otter Falls Ski Trail Loop A has a partial closure in place due to bridge construction.  From the staging area heading west along the highway is closed to the first junction. All other portions of this trail remain open.
