Child Care Subsidy

NOTICE

Amendments have made to the Child Care Regulation under The Community Child Care Standards Act, that support a 45 per cent increase to net household income thresholds and allowable deductions resulting in expanded eligibility to the Child Care Subsidy Program. Child Care Online and Subsidy Eligibility Estimator will be updated to reflect the increased income threshold effective February 6, 2022.

Families that were previously not approved for child care subsidies are encouraged to re-apply after February 6, 2022, once the increased income thresholds come into-effect.

Important: No further action is necessary for applicants who have been approved for a child care subsidy or have recently applied and not yet received a response. These applications will be automatically re-assessed and adjusted under the new subsidy threshold rates. Families will receive a Subsidy Approval letter after February 6, 2022 indicating their new level of subsidy and re-assessed parent fees.

For more information, see Questions & Answers.

The Child Care Subsidy Program provides provincial support to eligible families to help with the cost of care by reducing child care fees for children from the ages of 12 weeks to 12 years.

Your eligibility depends on various factors including:

  • income
  • the number and age of your children
  • the number of days required for care
  • the reason for care

Subsidy Eligibility Estimator

NOTICE: New subsidy threshold rates will be effective in the Subsidy Eligibility Estimator, effective February 6, 2022.

The subsidy eligibility estimator will help you to estimate if you may be eligible for a subsidy, and if so, the amount of subsidy you may be eligible for. Please use the Subsidy Eligibility Estimator before filling out a subsidy application.
