Expression of Interest: ECE II Assessment Program Advisor

The ECE II Assessment Program offered through Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care provides a pathway for eligible Child Care Assistants to obtain ECE II classification through the demonstration of skills and knowledge in all 13 competency areas required of qualified ECE II’s, with support and guidance provided by the Advisor.
There are four streams of ECE II Assessment available: Competency Based Assessment (CBA), Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), Modified Prior Learning Assessment (MPLA) and Internationally Educated Qualifications (IEQ). More information about the ECE II Assessment Program.
Role of the Advisor
Advisors play an integral role in the success of participants by providing them with invaluable mentorship experience fostering growth, development and connections as an educator.
The advisors are selected based on their knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as their ability to mentor program participants. The advisors enter into an agreement with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Learning, and support program participants by assessing skills, knowledge and judgment. Advisors observe participants as they work with children, review assignments as demonstration of knowledge and offer support and feedback as the participant develops a portfolio which encompasses their work and achievements throughout the program.
Advisors will be remunerated for up to 40 hours per year, per participant at a rate of $35 per hour.
Expression of Interest Process
The following are qualifications of an ECE II Assessment Advisor
Required
- An ECE III classification (confirmed through Child Care Online)
- Extensive experience in an early learning and child care leadership or management role
- An understanding of Prior Learning Assessment processes or adult education; and
- Knowledge of current research in child development, early learning and child care practices, curriculum planning, and adult learning.
Desired
- Previous experience as an instructor, mentor, manager or guide
- Certificate in Adult Education or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Ability to read, write and verbally communicate fluently in French.

- description of how you would use your own knowledge, skills, and experiences to mentor adult learners (maximum of a half page or 250 words).
Only selected applicants will be contacted by Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning to schedule a meeting and provide additional details about the program. Successful applicants should be prepared to begin in the Fall.
