Pre-Employment Program Accreditation
Pre-employment programs are a path into apprenticeship that allows individuals to learn trade skills before they begin their apprenticeship and may make it easier to find an employer.
Pre-employment programs that are accredited by Apprenticeship Manitoba may provide credit towards Level 1 of an apprenticeship program.
There are currently over 100 accredited pre-employment programs provided by public schools, colleges and registered private vocational institutions throughout Manitoba that can provide credit towards an apprenticeship program. Check the Trade Profiles to see which training institutes offer pre-employment programs.
To achieve accreditation, institutions must apply to Apprenticeship Manitoba and demonstrate that they follow trade specific technical training requirements and standards.
Accreditation
There are two types of accredited pre-employment programs:
- High School programs
- Post-Secondary programs through a college or registered private vocational institute
Accreditation Process - Education and training institutions throughout the province are invited to apply for a trades-related program to become accredited through Apprenticeship Manitoba.
To be successful in the accreditation process your program must:
- meet the technical training standards of the trade
- have instructors that have received trade certification and teaching credentials, or are enrolled in a Manitoba government teacher education program
- have the tools and equipment that are required to support the trade specific training
Apprenticeship Manitoba can provide you the Guidelines for Accreditation and the Application for Accreditation of your pre-employment program. For more information, contact accreditation@gov.mb.ca.
Pre-employment programs that begin prior to accreditation approval by the branch will be rejected.
