Important News and Program Updates

Flood Updates (July 3, 2026)

Park visitors should check manitoba511.ca or call 5-1-1 before travelling.

Duck Mountain Provincial Park is closed. Currently all four access points (PR 366 and PR 367) remain closed and everyone in the park must continue to shelter in place.

  • People sheltering in place can call 431-363-0653 for information or to request essential supplies. This phone line is only for people sheltering in the park and will be monitored between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily.

All roads remain closed. Do not attempt to leave the park by any route. Roads within the park and throughout the surrounding region remain extremely unstable. Saturated ground, high water flows and ongoing erosion have significantly weakened road surfaces and embankments, leaving roads vulnerable to sudden undermining, washouts, and collapse.

Attempting to travel these roads could place you and others in danger. A road that appears passable may fail without warning, potentially leaving vehicles stranded, swept into floodwaters, or trapped in areas where emergency assistance may be delayed or unable to reach you. For your safety, remain where you are and continue to follow instructions from officials.

Manitoba Parks continues to respond alongside the Conservation Officer Service (COS), Manitoba Wildfire Service (MWS), Emergency Management Organization (EMO), Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI), Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) and Manitoba Hydro. All agencies are coordinating together to prioritize restoring road access, maintaining continuity of emergency services and restore power.

MTI is making significant progress on PR 366 south to Grandview.  Material is being brought in from long distances and work will take time to complete. Do not attempt to travel on this road to give equipment and crews space to work.  Continue to shelter in place.

Food, medications and essential supplies are being brought in.  Call the park info line 431-363-0653 if you need any essential supplies. Medical emergencies call 9-1-1.

EMO and OFC are coordinating emergency services. COS is patrolling the park.  Officers and park staff are checking on campers, cottagers and residents. Follow any safety instructions issued by officials.

Remember to be Wildlife Smart and secure all garbage in the disposal bins. Keep campsites and cottage lots clean to prevent any conflicts with bears and other wildlife. Store food and any scented items in a locked vehicle or trailer.

Manitoba Hydro has restored power throughout the park. Report any power outages online at www.hydro.mb.ca/outages or call 1-888-624-9376.

A prolonged emergency is stressful for everyone. Try to stay calm and take comfort in knowing that provincial agencies are working around the clock to restore access to Duck Mountain Provincial Park. It’s important that you look after yourself and those around you while sheltering in place:

  • Stay calm and get as much rest as possible.
  • Carefully manage your essential resources such as food, water, medication, and fuel.
  • Stay hydrated. Keep cool indoors or in shaded areas during hot weather.
  • Keep a clear head to make sound decisions. Understand the scope of the emergency and avoid taking unnecessary risks.
  • Check in on neighbours daily and assist vulnerable individuals within your capability.
