Manure And Mortalities Management

Livestock manure can be managed in an environmentally sound manner when the requirements of The Livestock Manure and Mortalities Management Regulation (LMMR) are met. By storing manure, the farmer can use it as a fertilizer at the most appropriate and effective time in the crop production cycle.

The Manure Management section of this web site provides information on appropriate manure application, handling and storage.

All mortalities must be also properly stored and then disposed of safely in an environmentally sound manner, as required by the LMMR. Acceptable methods of disposal include delivery to a rendering plant, burial, composting or incineration.
