What's New

 
Manitoba Markets Weekly Reports:  These two reports are a weekly summary of the latest commodity prices for Livestock along with Grains and Oilseeds.
 
A new report on Manitoba Forage prices is availale. This report is the result of extensive surveys of buyers and sellers in Manitoba. It can be found under Forage Market Prices.
 
Manitoba Agriculture Statsitics Factsheet is now available on our website and also ready to be shared in Manitoba Ag Days 2018.
 
2016 Census of Agriculture Manitoba Profile has been released. The number of Manitoba farms has been declining, while the farm size, herd sizes and gross farm cash receipts have been increasing. Manitoba has the second youngest population of farm operators in Canada.
 
The Price Improvement Program is currently in place to improve quality and quantity of livestock marketing information. Program information and Livestock Prices Collection Templates can be found under Livestock Statistics. Market Intelligence encourages both buyers and sellers to contribute by reporting sales information.
 
 
New Agriculture Statistics Releases:
 
February 12, 2018 : Cattle Feeders Calves Sold Through Manitoba Auction Markets (PDF 207KB) has been released and can also be found at the bottom of the February 9, 2018 (PDF 510KB) Manitoba Markets Livestock Prices report. MB Auction Markets sold 26,447 head of cattle in January, 7% lower than the previous year.
 
February 5, 2018 : The United States Cattle Inventory Summary (PDF 194KB) has been released and can also be found at the bottom of  the February 5, 2018 (PDF 509KB) Manitoba Markets Livestock Prices report. US inventory of all cattle and calves on January 1 were 94.4 million head, 1% higher than the previous year.
 
January 29, 2018 : The United States Cattle-on-Feed (PDF 185KB) has been released and can also be found at the bottom of  the January 26, 2018 (PDF 502KB) Manitoba Markets Livestock Prices report. US Cattle on feed on January 1 was 11.5 million head, 8% higher than the previous year.
 
Jannuary 22, 2018 : The Alberta and Saskatchewan Cattle-on-Feed  (PDF 184KB) has been released and can also be found at the bottom of the January 19, 2018 (PDF 500KB)  Manitoba Markets Livestock Prices report. The AB/SK Cattle on Feed showed numbers on January 1, 2018 up 8% from last year.
 
January 16, 2018 : The Weekly-Monthly Manitoba Cattle Prices (XLS 670KB) 2000 to December 2017 with price graphs can be found under Market Livestock Prices Report.
 
January 16, 2018 : The Weekly-Monthly Manitoba Crops Prices (XLS 2,244KB) 2005 to December 2017 can be found under Manitoba Grains and Oilseeds Prices.

January 11, 2018 : The United States Hog Inventory Summary (PDF 194KB) has been released and can also be found at the bottom of  the December 22, 2017 (PDF 531KB) Manitoba Markets Livestock Prices report. US total hog inventory on December 1 were 73.2 million head, 2% higher than the previous year.

December 11, 2017 : The Significance of Manitoba Food and Beverage Manufacturing Industry, 2016 (PDF 332KB) with graphs can be found under Food and Value Added Agriculture Statistics.
 
December 1st, 2017 : Manitoba's Farm Cash Receipts Estimates - Quarterly (PDF 396KB) for January to September 2017 is now available and can be found under Financial Statistics. Manitoba farm cash receipts for the first three quarters of 2017 are estimated to be $4.88 billion, 7.5% higher than 2016 level.
 
November 27, 2017 : Manitoba's Farm Income - Annual (PDF 598KB) for 2016 is now available and can be found under Financial Statistics. Manitoba realized net income increased to $593 million, up 18% from 2015.
 
November 22, 2017 : The Food Manufacturing Sales (PDF 184KB) 2016 with graphs can be found under Food and Value Added Agriculture Statistics.

August 21, 2017 : The Livestock on Farms in Manitoba and Canada (PDF 210KB) has been released and can also be found at the bottom of the August 18, 2017 (PDF 531KB) Manitoba Markets Livestock Prices report. The report showed cattle and hog numbers in Manitoba and Canada on July 1 were higher than last year. Sheep numbers were also up in Manitoba while down in Canada.
   
June 14, 2017 : Manitoba's Farm Cash Receipts Estimates - Annual (PDF 428KB) for 2016 is now available and can be found under Financial Statistics. Manitoba farm cash receipts are estimated to be $5.93 billion, 2% higher than 2015 level.
 
February 22, 2017 : Manitoba's Farm Income Forecast (PDF 368KB) for 2016 and 2017 is now available and can be found under Financial Statistics.
 
February 9, 2017 : The Manitoba Top Exports (PDF 33KB) 2016 can be found under Trade Statistics. Canola is the biggest commodity exported by Manitoba in terms of value, followed by pork and wheat.
