Manitoba Agriculture's Food Development Centre (FDC) is a fee-for-service facility that provides product commercialization with technical and research assistance for agri-food businesses, with a services focus on plant and animal protein products and ingredients, including waste stream evaluation and co-product processing.

Protein Development
FDC offers protein extraction services to create protein concentrates and isolates at laboratory and pilot plant scale using the following technologies:

     •  Alkaline extraction

        analysis guidance (PER, PDCASS), guidance on Health Canada submissions
     •  Real time shelf-life studies and sensory evaluation
     •  Formulation of clinical trial food products and ingredients
 
Co-Product Utilization and Sustainable Processing
     •  Identify value added components in waste streams
     •  Develop and add value to co-products of animal and plant protein production
